Sourroundings of Encantador apartamento en la playa de La Fosca
On the other side of the small bay to which the accommodation in which we reside circumstantially has views, are the ruins of the Castillo de San Esteban de Mar, an old medieval fortress of which there are documentary records from the 9th century for the first time, which was erected on the ruins of a Roman villa on which in turn was built on an Iberian town.
The curious thing is that this defensive building would resist the pirate attacks for which it had been designed, but it would be demolished by the peasants at the service of the lord who ruled over that territory.
At the end of the beach of La Fosca and passing through the Castle of San Esteban de Mar, which we have recommended here, we find the Cala de S'Alguer, a small rocky bay of no more than 50 meters long in which there is a small fishing settlement made up of some humble whitewashed barracks with colored doors in which that small separate guild neighborhood was established back in the 15th century, where the fishermen could dedicate themselves to their trade without taking into account another way of living than theirs, perhaps for this reason this humble corner of the Mediterranean has become an icon of the Costa Brava.
