El Paller II

A charming holiday accommodation located near the Girona town of Porqueres. Its structure is reminiscent of traditional Catalan farmhouses and although it was built in the 17th century, its spaces have currently been renovated to adapt them to current needs.

Searching for the essence of El Paller we decided to condition the outdoor space keeping in mind the Mediterranean forest that surrounds the property.

A path that winds along a blanket of grass leads us towards the house. A small porch with table and chairs welcomes us. Distributed on two levels, the house is built in stone and designed to make the most of natural light, which is why its rooms have large wooden windows through which you can contemplate the garden with different plantations.

Warmth and comfort are characteristic attributes of its spaces, distributed over two floors connected by a spiral staircase. The kitchen-dining room is a practical space where you can have lunch or enjoy a nap on the sofas under the warmth of the fireplace.  A family house, which has 2 bedrooms to accommodate 4 people. 

In addition, there are somefacilities that are common and that are shared among the guests staying in the 4 farmhouses, and that are structured as:

• Agames room where you will find abilliards, a foosball table and even a ping pong table.

• And for the little ones, a small corner with games and a blackboard was set up to fuel their creativity.

• Outside, a large plot of land that is equipped with a swimming pool with slide and swings.

• Nothing better in spring than preparing a barbecue and enjoying long talks on the stone benches that decorate the garden.

In the vicinity of the farmhouse you will find trails that will lead you to historical places such as the remains of the Church of St Quirze and Sta Julita. On the way back you can cool off at the Merlant fountain, with fresh, high-quality water that supplies the locals.

Purifying yourself is possible in the waters of the Jewish baths in Besalú. And if it's about eating, after touring the wall and the lake of Banyoles you can regain your strength in one of the restaurants that line the Plaza Mayor, where snails or the famous cakes are some of the specialties.

If you have time, don't miss the opportunity to get to know Girona. City that is reminiscent of Venice due to the arrangement of the houses on the river. There are many monuments to visit, among them the Castillo de San Fernando or the Church of San Feliu.
