Sourroundings of Un Plan Rural
Plan is a small village in Huesca that is located at Valle de Gistau. It has about 312 inhabitants and is known to have organized in 1985 a Caravan of women, following the appearance of the film of this name by William Wellman. Because of the shortage of single women in the village (one in front of 40 men) an ad was placed in the newspaper soliciting women for marriage purposes, which resulted in 33 marriages. In the vicinity of this town is the ibón of Plan, also known as Basa de la Mora, a mountain lake that, according to the legend, is enchanted.
The Valley of Gistau is limited by the port of the Cruz de Guardia, the port of the plan and that of Pez, which communicate it with France. This valley is surrounded by summits that measure between 2,000 and 3,000 meters of altitude among which is the Tuca Llardana, the second highest mountain in the Pyrenees, after the Aneto.
