Boltaña is a Huesca town of 1071 inhabitants located to the north of the province. Located next to the river Ara, this town has its origin in a Roman villa that later occupied the Arabs so the historic center is medieval, although the full development of the population occurred in the sixteenth-eighteenth century. The population stands out for its castle of Arab origin that later rebuilt the Christians to defend the square during the reconquest.
This town is located within the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido, which has been listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. In this valley you can make excursions as varied as the climb to Monte Perdido, 3355 meters high, the Añisclo Canyon or the Soaso Waterfall. On this excursion, we start from Torla and follow a path of about 6 hours until we reach this magnificent waterfall.
Another route that can be done in the area is the Barranco San Martin, a route of 2 to 3 hours of easy difficulty, although it is convenient to do it in good weather. The route follows the course of the San Martín River contemplating its waterfalls and lakes until reaching the Barranco, which forms a beautiful geographical point.
