El Cabrero

We have available a rural accommodation that is part of a complex and is located in the vicinity of the small town of Acebo, in the province of Cáceres.

The building is an old refuge of shepherds that has been rehabilitated and has the capacity to stay 4 people, distributed in 2 rooms (one of them has 2 single beds and the other has 1 double bed) .

Other rooms of the rural accommodation correspond to a living-dining room con fireplace de firewood and television, in addition to a kitchen americana annexed to this stay (with everything necessary for the stay of our guests) and a bathroom complete.

We have an area of ​​ parking for several cars, several electric bicycles and canoes that can be rented separately.

The old shepherd's hut is located inside a farm dedicated to agriculture and la ecological livestock ; surrounded by plants frutales, medicinal y autochthonous ; as well as several farm animals that live in freedom within our lands.

We also have maps and guides of the surroundings to organize excursions.

We are aware of agrotourism, so we impart courses and workshops of the following topics (must be previously requested and always with a minimum of 8 people ):

• Organic fruit growing.
• Beekeeping.
• Guided routes of recognition of nature.
• Ecological livestock.
• Production of preserved products.
• Alternative energies and bioconstruction.

A nearby town to know is San Martin de Trevejo, located in a valley at the foot of Monte Jálama :

• You can visit the church of St. Martin of Tours, which has an altarpiece in the sixteenth century, under the title de "El Divino" y by the painter Luis de Morales.
• Convent of San Miguel, founded in 1454, on the recommendation of San Francisco de Asís.
• Una almazara of the XIII century that was part of the old museum of wine and oil (now closed to the public) .

Another spectacular natural environment is la Las Hurdes, along which several rivers like el Malvellido or el Ovejuela.

Here stands la Sierra de France, with its maximum height, la Peña of France (almost de altitude 2000 meters) with a sanctuary at its summit, dedicated to the Virgin María.

It is also worth going up to Perales del Puerto to discover the ruins of hermitage of Our Lady of La Peña (on a viewpoint to all Sierra de Gata) or the remains of a necropolis from the VIII to XII centuries it is known by the name of "Patá del Moro".
