Casa Rural Fonda Molinero

Our rural house is located at Atienza, a village of Guadalajara.

It is a very old house, with a lot of history behind it, standing since 1700. Unlike in other cases, where buildings are rehabilitated and converted into rural accommodation, our house has been hosting tourists since 1915. It has been more than 100 years since this house receives people from all over, a characteristic site from yesteryear.

In addition, the owners are still the same family, generation after generation, so they are authentic rural tourism professionals. There you will feel at home, but with the rustic charm and the old flavor of the fonda.

It consists of a construction in the style of before, with very thick walls that perfectly isolate the house. Another characteristic element is its strong wooden beams, preserved as far as possible.

The accommodation has a maximum capacity for 15 people, counting with additional beds, and distributed in 5 rooms.

Guests can also use the rest of the house, in addition to the bedrooms.

There is a living room, with armchairs and chairs and a large window. The white of the walls contrasts with the colored sofas and the details in different shades of wood. In this room you can use the television or the DVD, but we also have a music channel and up to table games. In short, you will not have time to get bored neither inside nor outside our house.

Another very special stay is the library, with several shelves and places to sit. It is a perfect place to disconnect from the routine and enjoy a good book. It highlights the amount of light that enters through the windows. In addition, here we make available to our users information about the region and the places they can visit.

We have a kitchen that our guests can use, with everything necessary.

The house also has a restaurant, known for the quality of its roasts, very typical in the area.

First of all, it is essential to visit and visit Atienza, the town where our house is located. It is a very old town, previously called "Tithya": it is known that it was populated by celtíberos, of which remains have been found in the necropolis of Cerropozo.

However, the most characteristic of Atienza is its castle and the walls that accompany it. It is located on a high rock, on the top of a hill, due to its defensive purpose. There are still remnants of the walls, which had numerous doors and arches, such as the Arc de la Guerra, which can still be seen.

All the region and the surroundings are worth it, each one for a few reasons:

• Sigüenza, the capital of the Diocese of Guadalajara and with the beautiful Cathedral of Santa María.
• Canyon of the Dulce River, impressive ravines with great views.
• Hayedo de la Tejera Negra, a beautiful beech forest that forms idyllic landscapes depending on the season of the year.
• Villages of the black architecture, a route of municipalities formed by constructions mostly of blackboard, which constitute very peculiar sets.
