In the nearby town of Aínsa, to whose municipality the town where our accommodation is located belongs, we find a castle that was originally an Arab fortification that after the Reconquest was used both in materials and in plan to build the current fortress. although it is true that between the 11th and 17th centuries it has never stopped being reformed, either to expand its masonry walls or to rebuild itself after each battle that has affected it. In the wall that adhered to this building there were 7 gates, of which 5 are still preserved: Portal Alto, Portal de Tierra Glera, Portal del Callizo, Portal de Afuera and Portal de Abajo.
At the highest point of its walls, which reaches a height of almost 600 meters above sea level, stands the Balcón de Aínsa, which is one of the most exceptional viewpoints in the area, since in its panoramic view can be seen at the same time, if not all most of the notable natural landmarks of the region; with the River Cinca at its feet and in the background the backdrop of the Pyrenees while in the middle we can appreciate the massif of the Peña Montañesa that seems to emerge from the waters of the Medium Swamp.
