Welcome to Albarracín, a small town of 1093 inhabitants located in the foothills of the mountain range bearing the same name. Due to the great amount of heritage that it has and to a historical center of singular beauty, this city has received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, it is a National Monument and is proposed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Inside the old town we can find the Castillo, which was completed in 2009 to restore it to visitors. Within the walled enclosure you can find an archaeological field with medieval remains, in addition to the residence, which was inhabited by both Arab rulers and Christian rulers between the eleventh and eighteenth centuries. On the outside of the wall are several defensive towers in which the soldiers watched the arrival of the enemy.
In the interior of the mountain, there are the Pinares de Rodeno. It is a protected area of 6829 hectares of extension that receives this name because the pines are settled on rodeno, red sandstone. In this forest live animals such as the common squirrel, the marten or the fox.
