La Calzada Real

The rural house La Calzada Real dates from the late s. XIX, although it has been reformed a few years ago. Formerly it served as shelter to the workers of the earth. It is located in the town of Leon Congosto.

The accommodation is full rent, has 2 floors and can stay until 8 people.

The rooms that we find in the house are living room, kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, terrace, library, cellar and garden.

The living room has a fireplace of firewood on a stone wall. To the right of this we find the television, and in front of it there is a small coffee table and a sofa.

The kitchen has a long counter and a dining area where we find a table with capacity for 8 people. It is furnished, and equipped with appliances such as oven, hob, etc. and has appliances as microwaves, etc.

The 4 bedrooms are double: one of them has double bed and the other 3 have separate single beds. All of them are exterior and have a bedside table.

The bathrooms are shared, with shower y shower screen and bathroom cabinet.

On the terrace there are some wooden benches, and a small table. It is decorated with pots and closed by a wooden varandilla.

In the library we find a desk with a chair next to a wall, which is decorated in gray stone. On the sides of the desk there are several shelves full of books.

As for the winery, we found farming tools, and a couple of wooden furniture along with a table and a bench.

Outside there is a porch or arbor with a table and stone benches. There is also a garden area with different trees and flowers. In the middle of the garden there is an old well of stone, and at the bottom of this is where the barbecue is located.

The rural house is located in Congosto, a town of León, where VI Álvaro de Mendaña and Neira, a well-known explorer, was born.

Congosto has recognized the work and lab of the discoverer by building a monument, which is formed by a stone and an anchor.

Another of the natural spaces that we find in the town is the Bárcena reservoir, which leaves the Sil river.

Some monuments that stand out in the town are Church, and Sanctuary, which can also be seen from the house.

The towns of tourist interest that are in the environs of Congosto are Ponferrada, Compludo, or Santiago de Peñalba, among others. All of them frame architectures of past centuries.
