Description of Casa Mairal

A house with history. This is how we could baptize this rural house in the south of Huesca, which has always belonged to the family of its owner and through which years, wars, generations and even the town's musicians have passed.

It is one of the oldest houses in the town, and in approximately the year 1700 its size was larger and it occupied a large part of the square. In fact, it was known as one of the most stately houses of yesteryear and they say that it came to belong to the family due to an ancient tradition of giving a room to each son who married. What ancient traditions are like, just like now!

The house also suffered the effects of the Civil War, as many vandals entered to loot it and many of them destroyed it. For this reason, its reconstruction was difficult but finally, and as a tribute to the hospitality of the owner's grandparents, the rural house was created.

In total there are 2 apartments, which can be rented separately or jointly, and have a total capacity for 10 people.

Each of them is on a different floor of the house, but both have the same comforts. Their only difference is the capacity of one and the other (4 and 6 people).

For both there are a series of common areas, such as the games room (with many things for the children, but also for the adults), the patio – very typical of this area of Aragon – and the outdoor garden next to the terrace where the bicycles are kept and are available for guests.

And if we continue with the stories of the house, know that what is now known as the Lila room, on the upper floor, was once used by the town's musicians to play during the festivities. From here the pasodobles came out and made the whole town dance and have a good time.

It is also curious that the chimney, where the cadiera (wooden bench) is, served as a meeting place for the village shepherds. They would gather here during the winter and warm themselves around the fire and replenish their strength by eating garlic toast. In addition, today you can still see old marks from their knives because they sharpened them on the stones.A house with history. Sourroundings of Casa Mairal

Next to the Guatizalema river is this small town, which is very close to the capital, about 24 kilometers. Here you will be surrounded by the purest nature, so a good plan might be to take a hiking route.

Get to know Salillas and go to the so-called Snow Well. Years ago, snow was stored there, and the neighbors used it like their current refrigerators. You have to make another stop at the Church of San Ana, which has a large tower with 2 sections.

Also a social club, where you can come and cool off in its pools and where the little ones will have a great time in the playground. And for the older ones, the social club is open at night.

And if you want to experience the town festivities, you have to come in July, and more specifically on the 26th because they honor San Ana. They organize popular games, the typical festivals with the pasodobles that we mentioned before, and outdoor dinners.
