Peralejos de las Truchas is a small town in Caracas that has a population of 148 inhabitants. It is surrounded by pines mostly, but also has areas of elms and oaks. It is located at the point where the Sierra de Albarracín and the Serranía de Cuenca converge and in the mountain walls of both mountain ranges there are an infinity of vultures and eagles.
The Alto Tajo Natural Park, which surrounds the natural sickles formed by the Tagus River in its upper course, is located in the area. It has an area of 105721 hectares and, because of the large number of Egyptian vultures, owls, eagles and other raptors that nest on its walls, it has been declared a Special Protection Area for Birds.
Not far from this area, but passing to the province of Cuenca, is the birth of the Cuervo River. It is an underground spring whose water slides down the eroded rock forming gussets that freeze in winter forming a beautiful natural spectacle.
