Torla is a town in Huesca located north of the province bordering France. It is located at the entrance of the Valley of Ordesa, which is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It includes an area of valleys and ravines that includes Monte Perdido and the Valle del Ara. Through this valley runs the Arazas River that reaches it forming waterfalls.
The valley was named natural park in 1918, although in 1982 it was extended to form the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. It occupies some 15,608 hectares and is the second oldest national park in Spain. It has a glacier area and is plagued by pine forests and inhabited by creatures such as the shrews.
Bordering the National Park is the Bujaruelo Valley, which is uninhabited, and used as pasture for livestock. Along with the throat of the Navarrese forms a place of community importance. It is a refuge area for the Pyrenean brown bear, the Ptarmigan or the Pyrenean desman.
